"October 2010 marks the 50th anniversary of the Lady Chatterley trial at which Penguin Books was acquitted of obscene libel following publication of an unexpurgated edition of D.H. Lawrence’s novel, Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
The trial began at the Old Bailey on 20 October. The jury returned their ‘not guilty’ verdict on 2 November and ‘Lady C’ went on sale on 10th under the banner ‘Now YOU can read it’."
